Cardiac Conduction system Flashcards
What is the cardiac conduction system?
A set of structures in the cardiac muscle which create and transmit an electrical impulse, forcing the atria and ventricles to contract
What does systole mean?
Contraction
What does diastole mean?
Relaxation
What is the resting HR for an untrained athelete?
70-72bpm
What is the resting HR for a trained athlete?
50bpm
What is the resting SV for a untrained athlete?
70ml
What is the resting SV for a trained athlete?
100ml
What is the resting Cardiac output for both trained and untrained athletes?
5 L/min
What is the definition for heart rate?
The number of times your heart beats per minute
What is the definition for Stroke volume?
Volume of blood pumped out of the left ventricle per beat
What is the definition for cardiac output?
The amount of blood pumped out of the left ventricle per minute
What is bradycardia?
When a resting heart rate is lower than 60bpm
Draw the cardiac cycle.
Draw the Cardiac conduction system
