Define ‘authoritarian’
-Low in warmth/responsiveness but high in control and demandingness
-expect children to be obedient
-children experience low autonomy and can suffer low self esteem, depression and poor social skills

-parents are high in control, demanding, warmth and responsiveness
-sensitive to children’s needs
-allowed some autonomy
-more likely to do well academically and socially
What is autobiographical memory?
Memory of events and facts related to oneself, forming a personal narrative
What is ‘decentration’?
The ability to focus on multiple parts of a problem
What is ‘declarative memory’?
A type of long term memory that involves recollection of particular facts and events
What is ‘deductive reasoning’?
Logical process that involves using general ideas or knowledge to reach a specific conclusion
What is ‘episodic memory’?
Long term memory that involves conscious recollection of previous experiences together with their context in terms of time, place and emotions
What is ‘infantile amnesia’?
The inability to recall specific events from early childhood and it is caused by the underdeveloped brains of infants which prevents memories from being consolidated

Awareness and understanding of one’s own thought processes

Awareness and understanding of one’s own memory processes including how to monitor and control them
