Class
Antidysrhythmic
Mechanism of Action
Decreases automaticity by slowing the rate of spontaneous Phase 4 depolarization
Indications
Suppression of ventricular dysrhythmias (V-Tach, VF, PVC)
Prophylaxis against recurrence after conversion from V-Tach and VF
Contraindications
Second degree and third degree blocks in abscense of artificial pacemaker
Hypotension
Stokes Adams Syndrome
Adult Cardiac Arrest Dose
1 to 1.5 mg/kg IV/IO
Repeat every 3 - 5 minutes
Max dose of 3 mg/kg
Adult Conversion Drip Dose
2 - 4 mg/min
Adult VT w Pulse
1 - 1.5 mg/kg IV/IO If ineffective 0.5 - 0.75 mg/kg
Repeat every 3 - 5 minutes
Max of 3 mg/kg
Adult VF prophylaxis Dose
0.5 mg/kg IV
Additional 0.5 mg/kg boluses in 8 - 10 minutes
Max of 2 mg/kg
IM dose 300 mg (4 mg/kg) at 10% solution
Pediatric Cardiac Arrest Dose

Pediatric Infusion Dose
20 - 50 mcg/kg/min
Pregnancy Category
B
When is infusion reduced by 50%
Pt is over 70 years of age, liver disease, CHF, or shock
