Purpose of a lesson plan (MSOCCUR)
M- MATERIAL: wise selection of material, eliminate unimportant details
S- SUITABLE SEQUENCE: aids in presentation of material for effective learning, order is important
O- OUTLINE FOR TEACHING: provides a structured outline for teaching material
C- CONSIDERATION OF ALL PARTS: teach all parts and be thorough
C- CONFIDENCE FOR NEW INSTRUCTOR: gives confidence to new instructor
U- UNIFORMITY OF INSTRUCTION: all students will learn the same information
R- RELATES LESSONS TO OBJECTIVES: relates lessons to course objectives
Characteristics of a well planned lesson (PRFUCS)
P- PRACTICALITY: planned to fit the students needs. Don’t plan a 6 hour lesson for a 2 hour block
R- RELATION TO COURSE TRAINING: relates to course objectives, gives final goal and student understands
F- FLEXIBILITY: should allow for modification as necessary
U- UNITY OF INSTRUCTION: unified instruction ties all information together
C- CONTENT: should contain new material that relates to previous lesson
S- SCOPE: one can only learn so much so avoid overloading student

- The lesson plan is not suitable for thinking
