Unsatisfactory housing quality
Atmospheric pollution - Air, noise, light etc.
Antisocial behaviour
How does crime contribute to the urban reality?
Higher crime rate in urban areas
Influenced by higher incidence of poverty
Rates are subjective to specific areas E.g., Central London experiences more crime than Cambridge
How does ethnic diversity contribute to the urban reality?
Minority groups still subject to discrimination + segregation despite existence of multi-ethnic societies
However, young generations are beginning to move away from families + social clusters
How does social isolation contribute to the urban reality?
New migrant generations often feel socially uncomfortable + excluded
Lack of willingness/ability to integrate with communal networks
How can social isolation become diluted?
Willingness to become assimilated into UK society

May have lived in region for entire lifetime + witnessed change
May struggle to adapt to changes
