What does postmodern thinking recognise?
Recognise that truth cannot exist in a completely objective vacuum

What should we do with our preconceived ideas?
We should acknowledge them and take them into account when evaluating or interpreting.
What is the hermeneutical spiral?
When we start with assumptions of what the text means, use it to interpret scripture, modify our assumptions based on what we learn, and then look at the text again for a better interpretation based on our understanding.
What are the two main methods of interpreting scripture?
a. The grammatical-historical method
b. Allegorical method
Why should we avoid the allegorical method of interpretation?
The allegorical method of interpretation is completely subjective, different people will reach different conclusions about what scripture represents.
What is necessary for an individual to understand all the scriptures and to apply them to their life?
The illumination of the Holy Spirit.
Spiritual illumination does not supersede what?
Biblical truth
