What is an idiom?
Idiom is an expression or phrase that must be considered as a whole.
What is a proverb?
It is a short pithy saying that expresses a basic truth or general precept.
What does the literary context refer to?
To a literary passage in which a verse or passage appears
How should you determine the meaning of a word?
It’s use in the original language of the scripture at that time.
Word definitions are important, but what is necessary to reveal the proper meaning?
Immediate context
Major doctrinal issues cannot be decided by what?
Usually cannot be decided just by grammar or meaning of word from one verse.
Ultimately what is the context for interpreting an individual passage?
The entire bible
How do you know if your interpretation is wrong?
If your interpretation violates or contradicts what scripture says in other places.
