Lesson 6 Flashcards
How does Dr. Cara summarize the propositional content of the Word of God in Acts?
W of G is associated with the “core” of the Gospel but clearly includes more. Including it’s implications and “whole counsel of God”.
The “core” is the inner circle while the “whole counsel of God” is the Gospel (outer circle of the entire BIble).
Dr. Cara believes that preaching is the Word of God. Give Dr. Cara’s justification for this and the nuances of this statement.
In Acts W of G is only referring to preaching. Authorized preaching stressed (which doesn’t negate general witnessing/reading) Authority derived from accuracy. Reformed fathers and confessions confirm.
The power of the Word does not rest on the sinful person who is preaching but on the promises of God who pours out His grace through the means of preaching.
What type of “entity” is the Word of God in Acts according to Dr. Cara? What implications follow from this conclusion?
It is the preached word and this implies that God sustains and expands his church through this means.
