Race
A category based on biologically transmitted traits that members of a society deem significant.
Racial Formation Theory
Describes the processes by which racial identities are created, lived out, transformed, and destroyed.
Ethnicity
A group based on shared cultural features.
Nationality
A category based on place of birth and/or residence and the established geopolitical boundaries and laws at that time.
Racism
The belief in the inherent superiority of one race over others and the explicit and institutional discrimination related to those beliefs.
Ethnocentrism
The belief in the inherent superiority of one culture over others.
Nationalism
The belief in the inherent superiority of one nation over others.
