Lesson 2.3 Tissues (B) Flashcards
Type of Muscular Tissue:
-long, cylindrical, striated (with visible stripes) and is multinucleated
-attached to the skeleton
-involuntary muscle control
Skeletal Muscle
Type of Muscular Tissue:
-made up of non-striated, uninucleated, and spindle-shaped
-found in the walls of hollow organs (intestines, stomach, etc)
-involuntary muscle control
Smooth Muscle
Type of Muscular Tissue:
-uninucleated and has striations
-has intercalated disks
-found in the heart
-involuntary muscle control
Cardiac Muscle
Basic unit of the nervous system
Neuron
Consists of structures that can conduct electromechanical signals as a form of information.
Nervous Tissue
Nervous System:
○ located in the CNS
○ start shaped, support and control the chemical environment around the neurons
○ most abundant glial cell in the CNS
Astrocytes
Nervous System:
○ located in the CNS
○ ovoid cells
Microglial cells
Nervous System:
○ located in CNS
○ cillated cells
Ependymal Cells
2 Basic Characteristics of Nervous Tissue:
- Imitability
- Conductivity
Main Parts of a Neurons:
● a.k.a “cell body”
● protection
