Lesson 1.3 (A) Flashcards
Explain the process of a prokaryote forming into a eukarote.
- Ancestral Prokaryotic
- Infolding of Plasma Membrane
- Endosymsiosis
- Ancestral Eukaryote
What are the roles of an Organelle?
- Genetic control of the cell.
- Endomemebrane system.
- Energy house.
Briefly explain the structure of a Nucleus.
Oval structure and located almost at the center of the cell.
Parts of the Nucleus:
semifluid matrix
Nucleoplasm
Parts of the Nucleus:
separates the nucleus from the cytoplasm.
Nuclear Envelope
Parts of the Nucleus:
permit the passage of ribosomal subunits and mRNA out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm.
Nuclear Pores
organelles that use certain instructions from the nucleus written in mRNA to build proteins.
Ribosome
type of ribosomes found in the cytosol.
Free Ribosomes
type of ribosomes attached to the outside of the endoplasmic reticulum or nuclear envelope.
Bound Ribosomes
Endoplasmic Reticulum:
○ have thousands of ribosomes attached to the outer surface.
○ produces proteins.
Rough ER
