Lesson 2 Flashcards
In theory bet sizes should be picked based on…
The value hands, and bluffs follow the bet sizes of the value hands
What’s the difference between landing equity and finishing equity?
Landing equity = the equity that we have before betting
Finishing equity = the equity that we have after we bet and villain calls
How many tiers of value hands are there?
4
Give a description of landing equity vs finishing equity for each tier of value hands
Tier 1: Huge ->very high
Tier 2: Very high -> high
Tier 3: High -> Decent
Tier 4: Decent ->low (not good enough to value bet).
What’s the recommendation for our toolkit on the turn in position and out of position?
In position - have one bet sizing: either 75% or 150%
Out of position have two bet sizing: small (33%) and big (either 75% of 150%)
Usually we have a check-range on the turn. Here’s an exception:
SB vs BU 3-bet pot, sb bets the 884r flop BU calls, turn comes a K. sb bets range.
To understand why sb bets range, what are the issues of BU with this turn?
1.BU shed most of his Kx holdings on the flop
- SB’s range was richer than Kx than BU’s range preflop
Mention three scenarios when we bet B33
- Turn barrel oop - we want to block with some tier3 hands that would check if we were in position
- Delayed c-bet oop (we capped our range on the flop and use mostly B33 in these spots).
- high ev turn probe nodes: if the board is low and coordinates, I can build a bet range around Tier3 hands for thin value and denial
While I can never “upgrade” a weaker value hand and put it in the B150 range, I can…
Downgrade a tier-1 hand and check or B33 with it
Give 3 examples of scenarios when we value bet B75
- Delayed c-bet in position
2.Turn barrel when the turn card repolarizes villian’s range
3.Turn probe oop - where IP is too polarized for B150
Why do we overbet? Is it because we polorise our range?
Nope. We overbet when we have many strong value hands in our range (that villain can’t have) and those dictate the size of our bet, it’s not some arbitrary idea to polorise
When do I want to use B150 for value on the turn?
- Depolarizing (=brick) card on the turn
- Turn probe in unfavorable world (for example as BB vs LJ on A56J XX flop and BB probes turn)
- Delayed c-bet -usually OOP (IP we are more capped when checking back since we check back less nutted hands IP)
What is the HW question
Look at a hand I’ve played recently for the following spot:
1.Barrel opportunity
2.Delayed c-bet
3.Probe
For each hand:
1.Which bet sizes will be in my toolkit
2.What will my hand do in theory
