These are things which are taught from a young age and are commonly accepted and followed by society
What are values
These are something which are learnt or adapted to as people grow
What are examples of values
Religion or dietary choices
How does your family control your identity
These are usually the people who educate you on your culture
How does the media influence your identity
Things from the internet appeal to different audiences. Trends are created which augments peoples identities
What type people influence identity through the media
People who are βvaluedβ within society. Examples can be influencers, comedians and others
What is socialisation
Individuals being taught the culture and system of through the teaching of norms and values
What is primary socialisation
Your immediate family demonstrating how you should behave. These are norms and values.
When does primary socialisation occur
From quite a young age
What is secondary socialisation
Where children continue to learn the culture and behaviour of society as they work through new scenarios
When does secondary socialisation occur
Later childhood/ The beginning of the adolescence period
What are institutions which provide secondary socialisation
Education, Friends, Religion, Media
What are feral children
Children who have not expected primary socialisation
