Accessibility
Being approachable, usable, reachable, and obtainable.
Aggregator
A website or program that collects related items of content and displays them or links to them.
Ajax
A combination of Web development technologies used for creating dynamic websites.
Amplification rate
The ratio of shares per post to the number of overall followers.
Applause rate
The number of approval actions (comments, likes, favorites, etc.) a post receives relative to your total number of followers.
Avatar
An icon or figure representing a particular person in video games, internet forums, etc.
Blog
A regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.
Contributor
Someone who takes part in something or makes a contribution. Writers and people who donate money, in particular, are called contributors. Writers whose work is included in a book, magazine, or newspaper are called contributors.
Conversion rate
The process of changing or causing something to change from one form to another.
Dashboard
The index page of the control panel for a website’s content management system. A dashboard typically indicates items that require urgent actions at the top of the page, moving into less important statistics at the bottom.
Distribution
The way in which something is shared out among a group or spread over an area.
Exposure
The extent to which audience members have encountered specific messages or classes of media content.
Freemium
Free tools available to any who agree to Terms of Service, such as Google, Twitter, Facebook. The business model often includes marketing, advertising, donations. Data Usage.
Frequency
How many times you’ve reached the same person with a specific piece of content. The more people see the same content from you, the more likely they are to become annoyed with it.
Hashtag
A word or keyword phrase preceded by a hash, also known as the pound sign. t’s used within a post on social media to help those who may be interested in your topic to be able to find it when they search for a keyword or particular hashtag.
Immediacy
The degree of directness and intensity of interaction between communicator and referent in a communicator’s linguistic message.
Impression
The number of times your content is displayed on someone’s feed.
Influencer
A user who has established credibility in a specific industry has access to a huge audience and can persuade others to act based on their recommendations. An influencer has the tools and authenticity to attract many viewers consistently and can motivate others to expand their social reach.
Instant messaging
A type of online chat that offers real-time text transmission over the Internet.
JavaScript
A programming language used primarily by Web browsers to create a dynamic and interactive experience for the user.
Live chat
A two-way message conversation where a customer can multitask while getting help. It’s text-based and available 24/7 and people expect that when they reach out, they will quickly be connected with a company representative.
Live Streaming
A real-time video that is broadcast through a social network or online platform where it can be viewed by the public.
Mashup
Web development is a web page or web application that uses content from more than one source to create a single new service displayed in a single graphical interface.
Metadata
A basic level is a descriptive information about a piece of data. A card in a card catalog at a library is descriptive information about a particular book: the author, the title, the subject matter, and where it can be found in the library.
Microblog
A short piece of content designed for quick audience interactions. Microblogging is a combination of instant messaging and content production. With a microblog, you share short messages with an online audience to improve engagement.
