  • > indicate how many they saw/experience
  • measurement if they had PTSD or not
  • if PTSD: after 15m remembered more than after 5m
  • no PTSD remember about same negative experience at 5m and at 15m
  • > people infere that if they have symptoms they might have seen horrible things (otherwise i would not experience that much)
  • suffering is real, memory may not be

alien abduction study

A
  • people can suffer from highly unlikely events
  • some people believe they were abducted by aliens
  • 6 (of 10) had PTSD
  • > before they had previous quasi-hypnotic session to recover all detailed ‘memories’ -> made them even more suffer
  • victims scored higher on absorption. magical ideation and association
  • had higher physiological reactions to abduction and negative scripts
  • also higher rates of self-reported fear, arousal and imagery vividness after abduction tapes than controls
