Lecture 9 Pt II Flashcards
Neurons (Body(
Contains nucleus, mitochondria, ect.
Neurofibrils
Bundles of proteins (neurofilaments) that aid in rapid communication and transport
Dendrite
Branching processes., terminate with receptors. receiving structure.
Axon
Single process attached to the body by the acon hillock. terminated with telondendria with synaptic knobs. sending structure.
Myelin Sheath
created by schwann cells. contains myselin sheath gaps.
Input zone
dendrites and cell body
Summation zone
axon hillock
Conduction zone
axon
Output zone
telondria and synaptic knobs of axon.
Multipolar
One axon and multiple dendrites. most common
Bipolar
one axon and one dendrite. Ex. olfactory neurons.
(Pseudo)unipolar
one axon with a dendrite end. always sensory. (Afferent)
Functional Classifications of Neurons
Afferent, interneurons, efferent
Epineurium
fibrous coat surrounding entire nerve
perineurium
surrounds and binds fascicles
