How do you assess a mandibular fracture
History
• Pain on biting swallowing, teeth don’t meet properly
• Swelling/tenderness along TMJ, angles, lower border
• 2 X-rays 90 degrees to each other
How do you manage a mandibular fracture
Surgery
• Titanium plates over fracture
How d you manage a maxillary fracture
Le Fort
• Coronal flap- access to orbits, zygotes
Surgical techniques for facial deformity
o Le Fort I osteotomy- commonest
o Mandible- bilateral sagittal split osteotomy
o BSSO (Commonest)
