Lecture 9 Flashcards
1
Q
2^n
A
n = number of pairs of chromosomes
2
Q
Dihybrid Cross
A
Pure breeding parents –> heterozygote offspring, they interbreed
16 possible combinations (2 genes)
- assuming complete dominance for both genes (9:3:3:1)
3
Q
Test Cross
A
Used to establish the genotype of an individual with the dominant phenotype
Cross to a homozygous recessive genotype
appearance of recessive genotype indicates heterozygosity
4
Q
Back Cross
A
a cross of an F1 to one of its parents/identical genotype
5
Q
Gene Interaction
A
When two or more genes influence the same phenotypic trait/ two genes interact to determine one trait (eg. coat colour and density of coat colour)
