Q
3 types symbiosis:
A
- Mutualism: both benefit eg. obligate (orals and algae) facultative (oxpeckers feed off ticks etc from buffalo)
- Commensalism: one species benefits, the other appears unharmed eg. barnacles and whales
- Parasitism: one benefits the other harmed (ectoparasites, endoparasites, blood parasites)
3
Q
Co-evolution
A
- orchids that mimic female wasps
- fig and fig wasp
4
Q
Niche separation
A
When two species use the environment differently in order to coexist
5
Q
Character displacement
A
species are different and change when they overlap and cooccur with other similar species but this goes when they overlap less
