Lecture 8 Organisational Perspective (II) Flashcards
What attributes does a project have that need to be addressed by a company?
It needs a well defined purpose. It needs a time period. It requires resources from various areas. It needs a primary sponsor or customer. Uncertainty needs to be accepted, it comes along with every project.
How do the Engineering/Task and Organizational Perspectives differ?
The Engineering/Task perspective deals with the actual work. They are given objectives by the organization. The only planning involved for this perspective deals with how the given objectives will be achieved. The organization sets the future vision for the company, and generally has less details to deal with. However, they must communicate this future vision clearly, in order to measure success.
What does a company need to have to be able to start estimations of costs?
A Work Break Down Structure is very helpful. It allows the organization to plan out who will be working on which tasks, how long it will take, and what resources are needed in order to complete the objective.
What are the four implementation approaches?
Big bang (Quickest and riskiest), Phased (new system has partial functionality until old system is phased out), Parallel (running both phases together, can be complicated), or Pilot (20% of company invested to work out kinks)
What is the difference between change management and implementation management?
Change deals with the social subsystem and implementation deals with technical.
How can a company support new questions about the new system?
Know which assistance is appropriate for the company (peer advice, training, online support, help-desk, CM-support)
