Lecture 8 Flashcards
Evaluation research
Evaluation research is research conducted for the distinct purpose of investigating social programs
integrated mixed-methods design
qualitative and quantitative methods are used concurrently and both are given equal importance
Embedded mixed-methods design
Qualitative and quantitative methods are used concurrently in the research but one is given priority
Staged mixed-methods design
Qualitative and quantitate methods are used in sequence in the research and one is given priority
Primary data
data collected by the researcher
Secondary data
data collected by others
Secondary data-analysis
Using pre-existing data in a different way or to answer a different research question than intended by those who collected the data
Unobtrusive methods
research methods in which data are collected without the knowledge or participation of the individuals or groups that generated the data
Big data
Massive data-sets reflecting human activity or other information, that is only manageable to analyze with today’s computers
Content-analysis
An approach to the analysis of documents and text
Intra-coder reliability
The consistency with which a researcher codes
Inter-coder reliability
The amount of agreement between two different coders
