Meaning of “Universal”
Has 2 meanings:
Simple: a phenomenon that is constant across cultures
Variform: the general statement or principle holds across cultures, but the enactment of this principle differs across cultures

- Consistency
- Credibility
- Increased performance
Advantage of having a leader which is DISsimilar to the culture
- Provides additional information
Task leadership vs Relational leadership and use similar or dissimilar culture leadership
Task leadership - (More technical) clarifying tasks, defining role relationships, clarifying performance targets, encouraging the use of standardized rules and procedures
Relational leadership - (More relational) emphasizing interpersonal support, implementing group suggestions, demonstrating respect
Better to use dissimilar (if culture is task oriented, use relational leadership)
