What are expected ratios (E)
A
they are based on Mendelian Principles of segregation, independent assortment and dominance

What is an observed ratio (O)
A
Ratio in real crosses almost always deviate from the expected ratios

What can major deviations in the observed ratio be due to?
A
Major deviations may be due to linkage or other factors which complicate the inheritance of characteristics

When does linkage occur?
A
when 2 alleles are situated in close physical proximity to each other, on the same chromosome

If 2 genes are linked, are they able to assort independently?
A
No, and therefore they are inherited together
