Lecture 6 Flashcards
What is the black box problem
Changes the direction of the problem in a certain way
What is an example of the black box problem
Nutrition labelling as obesity policy response but what are the mechanisms of action it is the education and hold producers accountable
What does a logic model do
Connects the policy idea to the outcomes we want to achieve
What is a logic model
Theory of change gives you a visual of policy problem
How does it show how a program is structured
Planned work and intended resultss
Rationale behind the program delievery approach
Key elements of the program
Cayse and effect relationships
Identify core elements
What are the 5 steps of logic models
Resource inputs
Activties
Outputs
Outcomes
Impact
What would be nutrtion labeling logic modely
Nutrtuion labeling it is then read by consumers well understood healthier diet purchase healtheir food and then prevention of obesity
What are inputs
Processes techniques tools events rechonolgy and action of the planned program
What are activties
The processes techniques toold events techonolgy and actions of the planned program it is what you with those resources you can create products ervices and infrastructure
What are contextual conditions
Resources or barriers that could enable or limit program effectivness like province to province
What are protective factors
resources may include funding partners staff time
What are limiting risk factors
attidues lack of resources polices laws regulations and geography
What are outputs
They are direct result, more tanigable then outcomes size or scope of the service and products
What is an example of outputs
Number of classes taught meetings held materials produced and distributed program particpation rates
What are outcomes and impacts
Specific changes in attiudes behaviours knoewldge skills status these are the things you want to do with the changes skill improvment of attiduetes or policy changes
What is backward logic
Start with desired outcomes and work backwards from there to develop activites and inputs
What is forward logic
Start by identifying inputs and activites move forward by asking why of each stage usually you have a bigger budget
What is intergration of evidence
Important to ground in evidence it is never always a complete forward cuz you want to know what you have to achieve
Can you control international
No but need to take into consideration
What are benefits of logic models
intergrate to the program build stakeholders understand
refrence point what things were like before
prtiorizing questions to ask
identifying external factors facilitate or hinder a program
integrate planning and evaluation
articulate casual links
