Q

What’s are chordate tendinae?

A

Connect AV valve leaflets to the papillary muscles to ensure valve doesn’t slam too hard when it shuts

Q

What is the cardiac muscle cell structure?

A
  • striated
  • short, branched cells
  • one or occasionally 2 nuclei over cell
  • central oval shaped nucleus
  • cytoplasmic organelles packed at the poles of nucleus
  • interconnected with neighbouring cells via intercalated discs

Q

What are the types of connections between cardiomyocytes?

A
  • adhesion belts ( actin to actin in vertical position)
  • desmosomes ( link cytokeratin with cytikeratin and prevents adhesion belts from pulling cells apart)
  • ## Gap junctions ( horizontal portion for electrochemical communication)
