Q

how does it affect human health?

A

negatively impacts the building blocks for good health
e.g; the largest mass poisoning in new zealand history
- threaten food security
- displace whole populations
- 64 deaths in puerto rico (directly attributed to hurricane maria)

  • direct effects of climate change on heath: drought, heat, fire
  • indirect effect: spread of disease vectors

Q

what are some protective interventions for climate change?

A
  • cool roofs
  • floating gardens
  • akl anti flooding plan
  • plant diet (cuts greenhouse emissions, maximises public health)
  • multiple satisfier (health, mobility, efficiency, emission reduction)
  • reduce reliance on cars + support people to walk, cycle + use public transport
  • community trials of insulation + clean heating, higher temps, lower disease rates, smaller power bills
