the duodenum
what does the mesentery contain
arteries, veins, nerves and lymphatics
whats the path of nutrient rich, deoxygenated blood from the small intestine

what are the villi made of
they are foldings of the mucosa, more specifically they have a core of lamina propria, has lacteals and capillary networks inside itself
what are absorptive cells of the small intestine called
these are enterocytes
what attaches enzymes to the brush boarder and describe this thing
glycocalyx attaches enzymes to the brush boarder. these are glycoproteins with branched filaments
where can we find intestinal crypts
between the villi of the small intestine
what do we find in the intestinal crypt and what do these things do
right at bottom of crypt is the paneth cell these secrete granules and antibacterial enzymes, protecting us.
we have stem cells that divide and replace damaged cells in the intestinal crypts
we have hormone secreting endocrine cells and then the normal epithelial enterocyte
