lecture 2 Flashcards
CSEP=
Canadian society for exercise physiology
CSEP recommendations:
-sleep: 7-9 hours of good quality sleep per night
-sleep is a new part of the guidelines!!
-sedentary behaviour is a new section in the guidelines
-sedentary behaviour is detrimental to health regardless of how much physical activity you do
-guideline: limit sedentary behaviour to 8 hours or less, no more than 3 hours of recreational screen time
-previous guidelines emphasize “bouts of 10 minutes or more”, new guidelines emphasize an accumulation of 150 min
dose response graph for PA
-150 min accumulation in 10 min bouts is not evidence based. May provide a barrier for some people. In other words, 150 is not ABSOLUTELY necessary, any amount is beneficial.
-inactive= high risk of disease
-dose-response curve
-trying to move people along the curve has a big impact!! (any activity helps in terms of reducing risk of disease)
Aging and strength training
