What is the Theory of Mind?
The understanding that are our thoughts and ‘inner world’ are different to other peoples’, and that these shape the actions of ourselves and others.
What is inhibition in terms of cognitive development?
The inhibition of certain automatic/impulsive behaviours in order to adapt to certain situations.
What is deception in terms of cognitive development?
The ability to identify things that are not reality
What is categorisation in terms of cognitive development?
The ability to recognise similar properties in things and then sort them into groups
What is conservation in terms of cognitive development?
The understanding that things maintain key properties even when they look different
What is episodic memory?
The memory of events - autobiographical memory
What is self-concept?
An image/description of oneself using external and internal characteristics.
What is the different between self concept and self esteem?
Self concept is a description of the self, while self esteem is an evaluative judgement
What are the physical signs of bullying that often present?
Headaches, abdominal pain, sleep difficulties, enuresis (urinary incontinence)
