Lecture 11 Flashcards
What are the types of direct effects of global change?
Temperature, acidification, destruction, asphyxiation
What are the types of Indirect effects of global change?
habitat loss, life history shifts, range shifts, disease
What causes problems with oxygen availability?
Higher temperatures = higher oxygen demands
•Higher temperatures = different oxygen solubility and diffusion dynamics
What species does sea level rise effect the most?
species that live close to sea level as the get pushed into human development where they have nowhere to go. e.g saltmarsh
What is example of habitat loss caused by climate change?
coral bleaching leads to species that live in lossing habitat.
What is The problem with predicting tomorrow’s
biology based on today’s biology?
it ignores the problem with predicting tomorrow’s
biology based on today’s biology
