lecture 1 Flashcards
Head is composed of
skull which encloses the brain and face which includes eyes, nose mouth, forehead and cheeks
neck
support head and attaches head to trunk
trunk is composed of
chest abdomen pelvis
upper limbs
from shoulder to fingers
LOWER LIMBS
from buttocks to foot
groin
area marked by crease where trunk attaches to thigh
cranial cavity
contains brain
vertebral canal
contains spinal cord
trunk has 2 cavities called
thoracic cavity and abdominopelvic cavity
thoracic cavity
chest cavity that contains pericardial and 2 pleural cavities
pericardial cavities
fluid filled space surrounding heart
pleural cavities
fluid filled space surrounding lungs between parietal and visceral pleura
mediastinum
central part of thoracic cavity between lungs from 1st rib to diaphragm and sternum to vertebral column contains all thoracic organ except lungs. heart, esophagus, trachea,
parietal pleura
iNTERIOR LINES CHEST WALL
visceral pleura
clings to surface of lung
viscera
organs in thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities
serous membrane
slippery double layered membrane that covers viscera lines thorax and abdomen
parietal and visceral pericardium
same thing as lungs but for the heart
visceral and parietal peritoneum
same thing as lung but for abdomen different feom lungs and heart in that the peritoneal cavity houses organs (most abdominal organs) parietal peritoneum lines abdominal wall and inferior surface of diaphragm
retroperitoneal
between parietal peritoneum and posterior abdominopelvic wall like kidneys adrenal glands pancreas ivc
top line in adominopelvic regions
subcostal lin
bottom line in abdominopelvis regions
transtubercular line
midclaviclular lines
vertical lines through midpoint of clavical
abdominopelvic regions from left to right superior to inferior
left hypochondriac, epigastric, right hypochondriac, left lumbar, umbilical, right lumbar, left inguinal, hypogastric, right inguinal
