causes of hypertension Flashcards
coarctation of aorta
babies born with blocked or constricted aorta. BF to lower body is carried with collateral flow by small arteries. Causes much resistance between lower and upper aorta. constriction above renal arteries cause causes bp in kidneys to fall at first. releases bp factors. lower body at level of kidneys rises to nor mal but upper body rises above normal.
preclamsia hypertension
ischemia of placenta releases toxic factors. causes disfunction of kinedy and reduces NO RELEASE. also thickens glomerular walls which reduces filtration
neurogenic hypertension
strong stim of sympathetic nerves. like when anxiety causes acute hypertension
neurogenic caused by sectioning of baroreceptor nerves
when barrecptor nerves are cut or when tractus solitarus is ndestroyed. inhibition of vasomotor center is lossed. it is acute because vaso motor center resets due to lack of baroreceptor stim
genetic
sympathetic is more active. increased renal resitance. in humans cause excessive salt and water eabsorption due to gene mutation that transports them to renal tubular cells. the mutations can also cause synthesis of hormones that cause salt and water reabsorption
