A
  • suggests learning is maintained through reinforcement

Q

limitations of this theory

A

Counter evidence from animal research
- Harlow’s research showed contact comfort was more important than food in attachment
Ignore other factors
- schaffer and Emerson found that attachments are formed w/ most interactive to infants
Better alternative
- bowlbys theory it’s an evolutionary behaviour enhancing survival and protecting infants
