Study regularly and not just before an exam and use a variety of techniques, also make sure to understand and not memorize

Practice questions and reflect on if your study approach is effective and what you need to work on
What is metacognition?
It is thinking about your own thinking, refers to processes used to plan, monitor, and asses your understanding
Why is metacognition important to learning?
It allows learners to be self aware and focus on their weaknesses, helps learners organize productive study sessions by focusing on weaknesses, improve motivation since learners are able to notice their deficiencies and make a plan to fix them
