learning plateau’s Flashcards
What is a learning plateau?
A period where there are no signs of improvement and therefore the performer does not improve
What is the first stage of a learning plateau?
The first stage of learning is generally cognitive learning, learning is slow and the quality of performance is poor as the performer is learning the task for the first time
What is the second stage of a learning plateau?
The second stage of a learning plateau is generally associative learning as the performer begins to make links to past experience, there is rapid acceleration in the rate of learning, which provides the performer with reinforcement and motivation
What happens during the third stage of a learning plateau?
There is no improvement in the rate of learning and progression has now stopped which results in a performance plateau
What may happen after performance plateau?
The level of performance may drop due to fatigue and drive reduction occurs as the performer has gained a feeling of success already and has lost the initial drive to master the task
