Behaviour Therapy
A
= treatment for phobias, alcoholism, bed-wetting, truancy
- often involves exposure therapy
- goal = show that the situation will not have expected feared consequences

Systematic Desensitisation
A
= effective phobia treatment: learn relaxation techniques, imagine/approach feared situation gradually (HIERARCHY)
- closely linked to CC

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
A
= learning to overcome distorted/negative thinking patterns that can lead to maladaptive behaviours (eg. depression)
- long process but effective

Behaviour Modification
A
- closely linked to OC
- used in clinical & educational psychology
- three steps:
1. identify maladaptive behaviour
2. identify reinforcement that is maintaining it
3. change the environment so the behaviour is no longer reinforced
