Learning and Activating Vocabulary 2. Flashcards
In this audio, we will look at one more Part 1 question so we can learn and activate the vocabulary for answers to that question.
The question is
What do you like about your work?
I will give you some answers and just repeat with me.
The best part about my job is the work environment
Notice there is an elision here, that means we drop the ’t’ sound from ‘best’ and ‘part’ just to make it easier to pronounce. So instead of saying ‘the best part’ we say the ‘bespart’ - like one sound. Similarly, in ‘about my’ we use a glottal stop for the ’t’ and it becomes ‘abou’my’
The best part about my job is my colleague
The best part about my job is the salary
Great let’s expand our answer now and let’s add another advantage. Repeat with
me.
I also love the fact that we have flexitime
I also love the fact that I amnot on a 9 to 5 schedule.
I also love the fact that we get lots of training
Next, let’s talk about what we do in our job. In my job I can work from home. Instead
of ‘can’ we can use a more natural expression ‘get to’
So, let’s repeat.
What’s more, I get to work from home sometimes.
What’s more, I get to meet some interesting people.
What’s more, I get to work with some great people.
Finally, we can now put them all together.

And now, what about you?
