Lear 45 Engine Flashcards
What powers the fan assembly (N1)?
The low pressure turbine.
How many stages are in the low pressure compressor?
4 stages
What drives the HP compressor?
The HP turbine. Together they are known as the HP spool.
If the tower shaft (which drives the accessory section of the engine breaks, will the engine continue to run?
No. This shaft runs the engine driven high pressure fuel pump. No pump, no engine.
If electronic control of the engine thrusters is lost what happens to engine control?
It reverts to manual control via a cable connected between the thrusters and the hydromechanical fuel control unit.
What happens to the engine surge valves if the DEEC fails?
They will go to 1/3 open position which will reduce engine efficiency.
What happens to the magenta N1 target bug when the computers are in the off mode?
The bugs disappear.
What is maximum reverse thrust power?
85%
What happens to the N2 digital and analog display if N2 speed is between 100 and 102.5%?
What is it goes over 102.5%?
100 - 102.5% - display is amber
>102.5% - display turns red.
What is normal oil pressure?
65 to 80psi
What is normal oil quantity in each engine?
8.6 quarts
What arms the thrust reversers?
Weight on wheels and throttles at idle.
What do the DEECS control?
SEE A STAR Surge free acceleration Engine Sync Engine overspeed APR Spool Speed Thrust managment Automatic Start Reference or N1 Bug
APR is triggered by:
- 15% split in engine power
2. Putting the throttles in APR setting.
What four things would prohibit an engine relight?
FORD
- Fire
- Oil Pressure issues
- No rotation on N1 or N2
- Damage of any sort
