- Person orientated
- Sympathetic to group - decisions made after seeking their opinion

What is Laissez fair leadership and what situations would you need to use it in?
- Provides little support or input into decisions/tasks
- Lets team members do as they wish
- time available
- experienced performers
- autonomous learners
- high levels of motivation

What are the two ways in which a leader can be determined?
Prescribed leader - appointed by external authority to lead the group
Emergent leader - appointed/approved by group
What is Fiedler’s contingency model?
- Leaders should decide whether to be task or person orientated in their leadership style
- That decision should depend upon the favourableness of the situation
Describe the conditions of each favourableness of a situation and state the type of leadership most suited
Most favourable (task orientated) - Clear discipline, highly respected, high ability, high motivation, clear/specific goals
Moderately favourable (person orientated) - Friendly relationship with group, limited resources, limited support, moderate motivation
Least favourable (task orientated) - Poor relationship, large group, authority questioned, low ability, poor motivation, complex task
