Law of Nature Extended Allegorical Representation Flashcards
“with their superior knowledge, it was natural that they should assume the leadership”
Perhaps it is unavoidable for leaders to emerge and capitalism and hierarchy to exist in society as there will always be difference in the skills, knowledge and competency of people. (WE CANNOT REBEL AGAINST NATURE.)- the fittest will survive
Socialism as a system is too idyllic and unrealistic
Allegory using animals?
To portray the Russian revolution in simple terms AND
to question the natural hierarchies in nature itself where it is survival of the fittest and humans are at the top of the food chain and metaphorically question the hierarchies in human society with social class which were common in many nations at the time
USES LITERATURE TO SEND A POLITICAL MESSAGE
“the laws of nature”
Animals should be under humans- (the poorer masses should be under the rich, leaders and higher class who can abuse them as they will.)
“Animal Hero, First Class” and “Animal Hero, Second Class”
Snowball and Boxer receive greater awards than the sheep that actually lost its life- existence of the “laws of nature” even within the animals as the sheep is given a lower award due to natural hierarchy where it is of a lower social position (WE CANNOT DEFY NATURE; THERE WILL ALWAYS BE CLASSES EVEN IN A SUPPOSED UTOPIAN AND EGALITARIAN SOCIETY)
“with their superior knowledge…
….it was natural that they should assume the leadership”
“rebelling against…
…the laws of nature”
