Lateral Anterior Leg Flashcards
What are the three cutaneous nerves ?
- lateral cutaneous nerve of the leg ( from common peroneal nerve ).
- superficial peroneal nerve ( from common peroneal nerve ).
- saphenous nerve ( from the femoral nerve )
What are the two superficial veins ?
- Great saphenous vein (courses anterior To medial malleolus)
Small saphenous vein (courses posterior To lateral malleolus)
What are the parts of the deep fascia of the leg ?
- The anterior and posterior intramuscular septa
- superior and inferior extensor retinacula ( the fascia thickens and forms at the ankle region )
What is the in the interior compartment of the muscle?
- Tibialis anterior
- extensor digitorum longus
- fibularis ( peroneus ) tertius
-Extensor hallucis longus
What is in the lateral compartment of muscle?
- fibularis (peroneus) longus
- fibularis (peroneus) brevis
What is the origin of the tibial anterior muscle?
Lateral condyle and upper half of the lateral service of the tibia, introsseous membrane
What is the insertion of the tibialis anterior muscle?
Medial cuneiform and 1st metatarsal bone
What is the function of the tibial anterior muscle?
Extension and inversion of the foot
What is the origin of the extensor digitorum longus muscle ?
Lateral condyle of tibia, upper 3/4 medial surface of fibula, interosseous membrane .
What is the insertion of the extensor digitorum longus muscle?
Dorsal aponeurosis 2-5 digits (same as in hands)
What is the function of the extensor digitorum longus muscle?
Extension of fingers 2-5 and foot
What is the origin of the fibularis (peroneus) tertius muscle ?
Lower 1/3 medial surface of fibula, interosseous membrane
What is the origin of the fibularis (peroneus) tertius muscle ?
Lower 1/3 medial surface of fibula, interosseous membrane
What is the insertion of fibularis (peroneus) tertius muscle ?
Base of 5th metatarsal bone
What is the function of the fibularis (peroneus) tertius muscle ?
Extension and evertion to foot
