  • inferior = botton (floor of the mouth)
  • anterior = front (incisors, canines)
  • posterior = back (back of mouth, molars, continuous with the pharynx)

what are the 2 divisions of the oral cavity?

A

**1. vestibule - **outer, smaller, slit like space
- anterior = lips
- lateral = cheeks
- posterior = alveolar tissue and teeth
- superior and inferior = superior and inferior fornix

2. oral cavity proper - larger space, inside the hard tissue barrier
- anterior = alveolar arches and teeth (anterior teeth)
- lateral = alveolar arches and teeth (posterior teeth)
- posterior = near the back of tongue (near uvula)
- superior = hard and soft palate
- inferiro = flood of the mouth
