Landing Gear COPY Flashcards
Manual Extension Access Door (OPEN)
- manual landing gear extension is possible with landing gear lever in any position
- normal landing gear extension is still possible if hydraulic system A pressure is available
- landing gear retraction is disabled
AUTO BRAKE DISARM light
illuminated:
- speed brake lever moved to the down detent during rto or landing
- manual brakes applied
- thrust levers advanced during RTO or landing except during the first 3 seconds after touchdown
- landing with RTO selected
- A malfunction exists in automatic braking
Parking brake light illuminates what color when set?
Red, light operates from battery power
HYD BRAKE PRESS indicator pressure levels (normal, max, precharge)
Normal: 3000psi
Max: 3500psi
Precharge: 1000psi
When will you get a BRAKE TEMP light?
4.9 value or higher. scale is 1-9.9
brake temp found on MFD SYS page
Full pedal to either side moves the nose gear how much?
7 degrees
NOSE WHEEL STEERING switch
ALT: hyd system B provides power for nose wheel steering
NORM (guarded position): hyd system A provides power for nose wheel steering
Tiller moves the nose wheel how many degrees?
up to 78 degrees
Each landing gear has how many wheels?
2
What hyd system provides retraction, extension and nose wheel steering normally?
system A
The normal brakes are powered from what system? what about the alternate brakes?
1: A
2: B
Is anti-skid protection available on both braking systems?
yes
What braking system is autobrake available on?
normal brake system
On the ground what prevents the landing gear lever from moving to the UP postion?
a landing gear lock
How can the landing gear lock be overidden?
In flight, the air/ground system energizes a solenoid which opens the lever lock
How are the main gear tires stopped during gear retraction?
Brakes for the Mains, snubbers for the nose
How is the gear held up?
the main gear is held up with mechanical locks, while the nose gear is held up by an overcenter lock
How is the gear held at full extension?
overcenter mechanical locks and hydraulic locks
When the manual gear release is pulled what happens?
the uplocks are released and the gear free-falls down to the locked position
How can the gear be retracted after a manual extension?
- close the manual extension door
- move the landing gear lever to DOWN with hydraulic system A pressure available and then
- position the landing gear lever to up
What does the brake system include?
- normal brake system
- alternate brake system
- brake accumulator
- antiskid protection
- autobrake system
- parking brake
Will the A system automatically supply pressure to the alternate brake system if the b system fails or is low?
yes
How is the brake accumulator pressurized?
system B
If both normal and alternate braking system pressure is lost can the brakes be used or parking brake set?
Yes the brakes can be used for several limited applications and the parking brake can be set due to trapped hydraulic pressure in the accumulator
How is the alternate braking anti-skid different from the normal braking anti-skid ?
- Normal provides anti-skid for each individual tire
- alternate braking anti-skid is applied to main gear wheel pairs
What system provides Autobrake
Hyd System B
Will autobrakes work with the alternate braking system?
No
To ARM RTO what conditions prior to takeoff must be met ?
- airplane on the ground
- anti-skid and autobrake system operational
- AUTO BRAKE select switch positioned to RTO
- wheel speed less than 60 kts
- forward thrust levers positioned to idle
Will RTO work if takeoff is rejected prior to 90kts
NO
What is more effective MAX manual braking or MAX autobrake?
Max manual braking
Can the parking brake be set with either HYD system?
yes
The Air/ground system receives logic from sensors on the landing gear. what landing gear and how many sensors are there?
2 sensors on each gear for a total of 6
