Fire Protection Flashcards
Each engine contains two (Blank / Blank)
two overheat and fire detector loops
If the FAULT light is illuminated what has happen?
Both loops have failed on the engine
The engine fire extinguisher system consists of?
two engine fire extinguisher bottles, two engine fire switches, two BOTTLE DISCHARGE lights and an EXT TEST switch
Pulling the engine fire switch does what?
7
- closes both the engine fuel shutoff valve and the spar fuel shutoff valve
- closes the engine bleed air valve resulting in loss of wing anti-ice to the affected wing and closure of the bleed air operated pack valve
- trips the generator control relay and breaker
- closes the HYD fluid shutoff valve.
The engine driven HYD pump LOW PRESSURE light is deactivated - disables the thrust reverser for the related engine
- allows the engine fire switch to be rotated for discharge
- arms one discharge squid on each engine fire extinguisher bottle
how many fire detector loops are there for the APU
1
if the APU single loop is INOP what light will illuminate?
APU DET INOP
the APU fire extinguisher system consists of?
one APU fire extinguisher bottle,
an APU fire switch,
an APU BOTTLE DISCHARGE LIGHT, and
an EXT TEST switch
Where is the APU ground control panel?
Right main wheel well
Pulling the APU fire switch does? (7)
- provides backup for the automatic shutdown feature
- deactivates the fuel solenoid and closes the APU fuel shutoff valve
- closes the APU bleed air valve
- closes the APU air inlet valve
- trips the APU generator control relay and breaker
- allows the APU fire switch to be rotated for discharge
- arms the APU fire extinguisher bottle squib
Main wheel well fire protection consists of and is powered by?
Is it detection or extinguishing?
Does the nose-wheel have fire detection?
- AC transfer bus 2 and battery bus
- detection only, not extinguishing system
- nose wheel well does not have a fire detection system //
Cargo compartment fire protection consists of?
2
- Cargo compartment smoke detection powered by DC bus 1 and DC bus 2
- cargo compartment fire suppression powered by the hot battery bus
What compartments are fire bottles installed?
FWD or AFT no main deck
What happens when you discharge cargo fire disch switch?
the first bottle is completely discharged in the selected compartments, the second bottle discharges at a reduced rate
What does it mean when the DEPR light on the cargo fire panel is illuminated?
The main air deck suppression system is armed and the air distribution shut off valves are closed.
What does the DETECTOR FAULT light illuminated mean on the cargo fire panel
Fire detection is inoperative in one or more cargo compartments.
