Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards
Which hydraulic system(s) power the landing gear?
The #2 Hydraulic system is the primary means of operating the landing gear.
The #4 system is the alternate gear extension system.
Which hydraulic system powers the wheel brakes?
The #1 system operates the main wheel braking system.
The #2 system powers the emergency braking system.
Which hydraulic system powers the nose wheel steering?
The #2 system powers the nose wheel steering.
Which unit monitors and controls the landing gear system?
The Proximity Sensor Electronics Unit (PSEU).
How many gear pins does the aircraft have?
2 - Main Gear Door Pins
2 - Main Gear Pins
1 - Nose Gear Door Pin
1 - Integral Nose Gear ground lock
When will we get a gear horn warning?
- Flaps less than 8.5 degrees and either engine torque below 50% and power levers aft of rating detent
- Speed less than 156 kias with power levers near flight idle.
What happens when the INHIBIT switch on the overhead panel is put in the INHIBIT position?
The signal from the landing gear selector lever is disabled and the lever can be moved without sending an extension signal.
What happens when the Landing Gear Alternate Release door on the overhead is opened and the Main Landing Gear Relase handle is pulled?
Hydraulic pressure is removed from the gear uplocks allow the gear to free fall when the release handle is pulled.
The first detent felt when pulled is the Gear Door uplocks and the second is the Main Gear uplocks.
What happens when the Landing Gear Alternate Extension door on the floor is opened and the Nose Landing Gear Release handle is pulled?
Opening the door opens the MLG alternate selector valve allow the manual pump in the compartment to be used to manual extend the MLG if they did not lock fully when they free fell.
Pulling the Nose Landing Gear Release handle is similar to the MLG. The first detent felt when pulled is the Gear Door uplocks and the second is the Nose Gear uplocks.
How can we determine if the gear are down and locked?
The Landing Gear control panel indications lights or the Alternate Downlock verification system in the Landing Gear Alternate Extension floor compartment.
When is the Anti-skid system active?
Wheelspeeds above 10 kts.
How long does the Anti-skid system test take?
6 seconds on the ground and 3 seconds in the air.
When does the main wheel brake system activate on landing?
A wheelspeed of 35 kts or 5 seconds after a WoW signal.
With what parking brake pressures can the engines be started?
#2 engine - 500psi #1 engine - 1000psi
The difference is due to the #2 engine and hydraulic system powering the parking brake system.
How far does the nosewheel turn?
8 degrees with the rudder pedals
70 degrees with the tiller
120 in free castor mode
