Q

What happens when the Landing Gear Alternate Release door on the overhead is opened and the Main Landing Gear Relase handle is pulled?

A

Hydraulic pressure is removed from the gear uplocks allow the gear to free fall when the release handle is pulled.

The first detent felt when pulled is the Gear Door uplocks and the second is the Main Gear uplocks.

Q

What happens when the Landing Gear Alternate Extension door on the floor is opened and the Nose Landing Gear Release handle is pulled?

A

Opening the door opens the MLG alternate selector valve allow the manual pump in the compartment to be used to manual extend the MLG if they did not lock fully when they free fell.

Pulling the Nose Landing Gear Release handle is similar to the MLG. The first detent felt when pulled is the Gear Door uplocks and the second is the Nose Gear uplocks.

Q

With what parking brake pressures can the engines be started?

A
#2 engine - 500psi
#1 engine - 1000psi

The difference is due to the #2 engine and hydraulic system powering the parking brake system.

16
Q

When will the nosewheel steering system revert to free castoring mode?

A
  • Nosewheel exceeds 70 degrees of deflection
  • The Steering Control Unit fails
  • STEERING switch in the off position
  • Following an alternate gear extension
17
Q

How many applications of the emergency brake will be available if both primary hydraulic systems fail?

A

Approximately 6.

18
Q

What would necessitate an alternate gear extension?

A
  • LDG GEAR INOP caution light
  • Landing gear indication failure
  • Loss of #2 hydraulic system fluid
