Landing Gear Flashcards
In which direction do the gears retract?
main gear is inwards and nose is forward.
Which hydraulic system supplies landing gear operation?
1
How is the landing gear locked down?
mechanically locked down.
Are there any landing gear up locks?
no, held by hydraulic pressure
How is the landing gear held in the retracted position?
via hydraulic pressure
What happens to a retracted landing gear when the hydraulic power is lost?
will rest on mechanically up lock doors.
Which doors are hydraulically operated?
Main gear: inboard doors are hydraulically powered and outboard doors are connected to main gear strut
Nose doors are hydraulic.
What is the landing gear lever connected to?
a sector valve that controls the hydraulic system 1 pressure with UP or DOWN.
What are normal extension and retraction times?
retraction 9 secs
extension 26seconds
Can the landing gear selector be selected up on the ground?
No, a electrical LG selector lock is activated on ground
What light indications confirm normal operation?
3 greens for down or blank or up. no transit light.
What will give a level 3 LANDING GEAR NOT DOWN alert? can the alert be cancelled?
when gear is not down and locked
aircraft is in app config (less then 1000ft RADALT, and either flap greater then 23 degrees or thrust lever less then in TO)
Can be canceled via MWL if caused by thrust lever. If by flap, cant be canceled unless putting gear down
When would you use the LG OVD button?
in event of lock release failure.
What restrictions is there on the operation of the LG OVD button
delay until 400ft to check if it is GND FLT fault.
if it is GND FLT fault do not retract
What does operation of the alternate landing gear lever do?
releases the up locks of doors and dumps LG hydraulic pressure, gear will then extend by gravity and mechanically lock down.
What happens to the main gear doors after the alternate selection?
they will all stay open
Nose-wheel steering is powered by which hydraulic system?
1
Is nose-wheel steering available after an alternate extension?
No.
What steering angle are available from rudder input and tiller input?
7 degrees
76 degrees
Where and when is nose wheel steering switched on and off?
- when selecting landing gear down in flight will be restored 5 second after touch down
- when conducted alternate gear extension
- towing switch
- max 76 degrees exceeds
What happens if steering inputs exceed normal limits?
system disengages and will connect once tiller deflection is reduced.
What happens to the steering if the landing gear is selected down
- when selecting landing gear down in flight, nose steering is disabled will be restored 5 second after touch down
What hydraulic system powers which brakes?
1 powers alternate
2 powers normal
What happens if the system supplying the normal brakes loses pressure?
automatic change over occurs.
What is the minimum accumulator pressure for the alternate system?
1000psi. 3000 psi is normal
What is the difference between normal and alternate braking?
only one anti skid per two tires with alternate, 2 with normal.
How do you test the anti-skid?
via test panel. when speed is less then 14kts.
What alert is there for anti-skid?
alert 2.
What does operation of the park brake handle do?
locks the pedals in the depressed position and closes the parking brake shut off valve in alternate system
What visual indications do you have that the parking brake is set?
memo message on MFDS.
