Fuel System Flashcards
Where is the fuel stored? How is it fed to the engines?
two wing and one center tank
Where are the collector tanks?
in the main wing tanks
What means of fuel ventilation is there?
via vent valves or if blocked via sniffle valves
How is fuel transferred from the centre tank?
two electric pumps.
What happens during centre tank transfer when a collector tank is full?
the excess flows into the outer tank
What happens during centre tank transfer if one pump fails? both pumps?
system 1: one pump can supply both still. once both are US then center fuel becomes unusable.
system 2: tank asymmetry will occur and if both fail tank comes unusable
When does the centre tank transfer take place?
if system is in AUTO pumps are turned on. it will transfer at a predetermined value (or in case of system 1, automatically as well if fuel flow is 1135kg or more)
What is the purpose of the cross feed system?
allows any engine to be fed from either or both collector tanks
Where is the quantity displayed?
on the fuel quantity totalizer. ed into the each wing and centre tank display on fuel panel.
When does a fuel asymmetry alert appear and disappear?
if ore then 350kg asymmetry occurs. will disappear when reduced to below 250kg
What other means of measuring fuel quantity is there?
using 3 magnetic fuel level indicators under wing and one on center tank. use with the attitude correction
How is the aircraft normally refueled?
pressure refueling via single point controlled from fuel service panel.
Is gravity refueling possible?
into main tanks only with over wing points.
When would a collector tank low level alert be presented?
alert level 1
if it drops below 500kg (cause by either jet transfer pumps US or main tank is low)
What is the procedure for cross feeding to the correct imbalance?
fuel management CHECK quantity wing tanks CHECK XFEED ON Fuel pumps low tank OFF When in balance, FUEL pumps ON XFEED OFF
