LANDING GEAR Flashcards

Emergency Extension
➢ If normal extension should fail, manual extension is accomplished by pulling the release handle.

▪ Hydraulic dump valves are released allowing HYD system 3 pressure to dissipate.
▪ Hydraulic pressure from system 2 is sent to the main gear emergency down lock assist actuators.
DESCRIBE THE FUNCTION AND OPERATION OF THE ANTI SKID SYSTEM.
Operation is automatic when armed. Works just like a car. To become effective, the system requires:
▪ 35 KTS wheel speed, or
▪ WOW signal for 5 sec
▪The system disengages at a wheel speed less than 10 KTS
DESCRIBE THE BTMS.
Brake Temperature Monitoring System (BTMS)
➢ A temperature sensor in each brake unit monitors the temperature of individual brakes and displays the indications on ED 2.
HOW DOES THE MLG DETECT AN OVER HEAT?
➢ The main gear bays are protected by a single loop overheat detector.
HOW DOES THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING FUNCTION?
Nose wheel steering is controlled by the tiller and rudder pedals when the switch is in the armed position.
▪ Tiller limits are L or R 70 degrees
▪ Rudder pedal limits are L or R 5 degrees
