WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUSH THE PACK SWITCH LIGHTS?
L-PACK-R – Switchlights turn the PACKs on and off.
WHAT DOES THE FAIL LIGHT ON THE PACK SWITCH LIGHT INDICATE?
FAIL – Indicated the PACK is in an over pressure or over temperature situation.
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE AUTO PACK AND COMPRESSOR OUTLET OVER-TEMP PROTECTION OF THE PACK SYSTEM?
Auto pack and compressor outlet over-temperature protection is provided as follows:
• PACK outlet temperature >93 degrees.
• Excessive compressor outlet temperature.
• In each case the PACK will shut down, closing the affected PACK valve, the associated 10th stage SOV valve and the ISOL valve. The PACK can be reset when it cools below 85 degrees.
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE OVER PRESSURE PROTECTION OF THE PACK SYSTEM?
Over-pressure protection will automatically shut down a pack closing the affected PACKs 10th stage SOV valve and ISOL valve and the PACK can be reset when the pressure is reduced to <51 psi.
WHAT ARE THE PRESSURES FOR NORMAL PACK OPERATION?
Normal Pressure for PACK operation is 30 psi and 41 psi for single PACK operations. • Single pack operating altitude is 25,000 feet.
THE LEFT AND RIGHT PACKS SUPPLY AIR TO WHERE?
The Right PACK normally supplies the passenger cabin while the left PACK supplies the flight deck (70%-30% split).
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE RAM AIR SWITCH-LIGHT AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
OPEN – Indicates valve is open ▪ Used during unpressurized flight or smoke removal procedures.
• Allows ambient air to enter the left air conditioning duct.
• Ram air is also used in icing conditions with the APU deferred.
• Another function of ram air is to cool hydraulic fluid from system 1 & 2.
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE CKPT & CABIN MAN SWITCH-LIGHTS?
When selected and illuminated MAN, this allows the PACK temperature to be manually controlled with the HOT/COLD toggle switches (2 degrees C – 71 degrees C).
WHAT DO THE AUTOMATIC MODE TEMP CONTROL KNOBS DO?
Used to select desired temperature in auto mode in associated compartment (14 degrees C – 28 degrees C)
WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT POSITIONS OF THE CARGO FAN DO?
OFF – Closes intake and exhaust valve to seal the cargo bay enclosure.
FAN – Provides recalculated air to ventilate and maintain an above freezing temperature of the cargo bay.
▪ A single fan circulates cabin exhaust air and interacts with 2 cargo bay smoke detectors and fire extinguishing system. If smoke is detected:
• Cargo fan is shut off automatically.
• Inlet and exhaust SOVs close automatically.
