DESCRIBE HYDRAULIC System 1 & 2.

A

System 1 & 2 are very similar and consist of one engine driven pump and one alternating current motor pump (ACMP).
On – Pump will operate at 3000 psi output +/- 200 psi.
OFF – Pump is off
AUTO – Pump is in automatic/standby mode and will operate when:
The flaps are out of the zero degree position and the opposite side generator is on-line.
System 1 & 2 are cooled be an air/hydraulic oil heat exchanger located in the aft equipment bay. Cooling from the ram air scoop is directed across the heat exchanger to cool the fluid.

DESCRIBE HYDRAULIC System 3.

A

System 3 consists of two ACMPs
ACMP 3A
OFF – Pump off.
ON – Pump will operate at 3000 +/- 200 psi output.
This pump normally runs continuously.
ACMP 3B
OFF – Pump off.
ON – Pump will operate at 3000 +/- 200 psi output.
AUTO - – Pump is in automatic/standby mode
When the ADG is automatically deployed, ACMP 3B is energized regardless of the switch position to maintain hydraulic power to the primary flight controls.

WHY DOES THE CROSS SIDE HYDRAULIC PUMP SHUT DOWN WHEN YOU HAVE A GENERATOR FAILURE?

A

SO THAT THERE IS NOT AN ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL DRAIN ON THE SYSTEM WHEN YOU LOSE A SOURCE OF POWER.
